Relay Checklist

Checklist Team Captain:
  • Call team meeting(s) to distribute Registration Packages. Maps and rules are to be down-loaded from the website. Collect fund raising tickets if required.
  • Encourage your team to raise funds for the beneficiary’s.
  • Collect waivers from team members and ensure they are with you on race day to turn into the Red Island Relay Organizing Committee. (You cannot race without a signed waiver)
Checklist Team Meetings / Team Members:
  • Review health and safety guidlines, rules and regulations, course maps, bike and canoe check times and locations.
  • Submit all funds & tickets prior to the cut-off date.
  • Team wristband is to be picked up by the team captain at Relay Central in the start area the morning of the race

Training Clinics

To help you prepare for the Relay, Outside Expeditions may be sponsoring a series of FREE training clinics in May. We expect each clinic to take between 1.5 and 2 hours. Clinics go rain or shine. We welcome all ages and experience levels – these are designed to help you improve your time and have fun doing it.  Each clinic will provide a training plan for the sport tailored to beginner, intermediate or expert participants. We look forward to seeing you!

FREE Paddling Clinic with Outside Expeditions

Time: Approx. 2-3 hrs
Meet at Outside Expeditions shop on 370 Harbourview Drive, North Rustico.  Clinic is in Rustico Harbour. Please bring your own kayak/canoe unless you are renting one from us for the race.  Don’t forget your PFD! Learn an effective and efficient stroke, as well as how to set and hold a course and get in and out quickly and safely. Also we will give you some tips to help you paddle faster, for both tandem and single paddlers.
